A high ranking Colonel in the Stargate program, Telford was chosen to lead the Icarus team through the 9th chevron gate address. He is a career Air Force man with strong values, proudly in command of his superior’s respect and attention. He is the best man for the mission and no one is more aware of that than himself. He and Colonel Young have a rocky past, and while stationed on Icarus together tried to stay out of each other’s way.
Lou Diamond Phillipsas
Lou Diamond Phillips’ versatile career has brought him success in feature films, television and theater as an actor, director and writer.
Most recently Phillips appeared in the Steven Soderbergh film Che, which co-stars Benicio Del Toro and Benjamin Bratt. In addition, Phillips stars in the upcoming feature The Invited to be directed by Ryan McKinney. He has appeared in Supernova where he co-starred with Angela Bassett and James Spader. He has been featured in the Alfonso Arau-directed Picking Up The Pieces starring Woody Allen and Sharon Stone; the psychological thriller Hangman with Mäden Amick; A Better Way To Die with André Braugher and Bats; a thriller directed by Louis Morneau for Destination Films. Prior, he appeared in the Hallmark Channel’s A Trail To Hope Rose and starred in the independent feature El Cortez.
Phillips first gained widespread attention starring as Richie Valens in La Bamba and solidified his reputation in Stand and Deliver for which he received a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe nomination and a Best Supporting Actor Independent Spirit Award. He has also starred in such films as Young Guns I and II, Disorganized Crime, Renegades, The First Power and Shadow Of The Wolf. Phillips co-starred in Ed Zwick’s critically acclaimed military drama Courage Under Fire opposite Meg Ryan, Denzel Washington, and Matt Damon. For Miramax’s Ambition Phillips both wrote and starred in the film.
Phillips starred in the critically acclaimed original Showtime film In A Class Of His Own. In this true story, he played a well-loved high school janitor who must pass the GED or be fired from his job. Phillips also costarred with Mark Wahlberg and Antonio Sabato, Jr. as the temperamental, flamboyant hit man in the action-thriller The Big Hit. He then had a critically acclaimed uncredited cameo in the Larry Parker-directed film Another Day In Paradise, which costarred Melanie Griffith and James Woods. He also appeared in the 20th Century Fox release Brokedown Palace, starring Claire Danes and Kate Beckinsale.
As a director, Phillips most recently helmed the Hallmark Channel movie Love Takes Wing. He made his directorial debut with Dangerous Touch, a psychological thriller that he co-wrote for HBO. He also directed and starred in the independent feature Sioux City.
Recently, he had a recurring role on the CBS series Numb3rs and costarred in the TNT mini-series by Dean Devlin entitled The Triangle. Phillips was featured in Gone But Not Forgotten, a miniseries for Hallmark co-starring Brooke Shields. Phillips was also seen in the Turner Original film Red Water, as well as the Ron Shelton directed film Hollywood Homicide, starring Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett. In the fall of 2001, he appeared on the CBS series Wolf Lake.
Phillips earned a Tony nomination for Best Actor for his performance as the King of Siam in the Broadway production of Roger & Hammerstein’s The King and I, which received six Tony nominations. His extensive theater credits also include: A Hatful of Rain, Whose Life Is It Anyway?, P.S. Your Cat Is Dead, The Lady’s Not For Burning, Doctor Faustus and Hamlet.
Born and raised in Arlington, Texas, Phillips began acting in the sixth grade and became actively involved in the Dallas/Fort Worth theater and film scene. His early film roles included the Texas-made Angel Alley, Interface, Trespasses and Harley.
Phillips resides in Los Angeles with his four daughters.
